METHOD ANOMALY
What a participant does
A band of noise plays continuously. At irregular moments its level briefly drops for one of several durations. You press one button when that dip is actually heard.
The headline number
Attenuation depth needed for a dip to stand out, against dip duration
- Unit
- dB of attenuation
- Measured against
- the continuous carrier the dip is cut into, in the same session
Analysis
Estimators, uncertainty, and result interpretation are documented under Results and analysis.
